WATERFORD – A week after a hard practice crash at the Waterford Speedbowl, Jeff Rocco was back to the front in Valenti Modified Racing Series action at the shoreline oval Saturday.
Rocco, a regular in the SK Modified division at the track, won the second Valenti Modified Racing Series heat event Saturday at Waterford in preparation for Sunday’s 100-lap season opener for the division.
Rocco, of Wallingford, expects to run part-time in the Valenti Modified Racing Series this season.
Chris Pasteryak of Lisbon won the first heat race of the day at Waterford for the divison. Lou Mechalides of Tyngsboro, Mass. won the third and final heat race.
The top-four finishers in each heat race will draw for the top-12 starting spots for the feature on Sunday morning.
Twenty-four cars will start Sunday’s feature.
