Ron Yuhas Jr. Back At The Waterford Speedbowl In An SK Modified

WATERFORD – The talk of the SK Modified division in the days leading up to Budweiser Blastoff weekend at the Waterford Speedbowl has been about the return to regular competition of Ted Christopher at the shoreline oval.

But it was another former champion of the division drawing onlookers ad wondering about his intentions Saturday in the pits at Waterford.

Ron Yuhas Jr. of Groton, the 2009 SK Modified division champion at Waterford, was back in the pits at the track preparing for Sunday’s 63-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature.

Yuhas and his Mike Murphy owned KLM Motorsports team are preparing for another full-time run on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour this year. But with preparations done for the April 14 Whelen Modified Tour opener at Thompson International Speedway, the team decided to break out their SK Modified at Waterford.

“We’re just here to have a little fun,” Yuhas said. “It’s good to be back. We’re having a good time.”

Yuhas said he’s not sure if the team could be making any other appearances at the track this season with the car.
