The transplanted Long Islander will be part of the field for 11th John Blewett III North-South Shootout Nov. 9 at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, N.C.

“We look forward to it,” Brunnhoelzl said in a release from Caraway Speedway. “It’s a real big event. It should be a good race for the fans. I hope we get a good car turnout. It pays real well. It’s all around a good race so hopefully we will get a lot of fans to come out.”

The winner of the 125-lap Tour Type Modified feature at the event is guaranteed at least a $6,000 payday.

“I like that it’s a [tire] change event so you can do your own strategy on when you want to come in,” Brunnhoelzl said. “It will definitely put a little mix into it. You just have to keep track of how many tires you get.”

Ryan Preece of Berlin is the defending champion of the event. Other former winners include Matt Hirschman, who has four victories, Burt Myers and John Blewett III with two wins apiece, and Donny Lia.

Qualifying for the event takes place Friday Nov. 8.
