Waterford Speedbowl Outlaw Stock Feature Brings Major Buzz To Saturday Finale Weekend Card

WATERFORD – Corey Hutchings’ list of accomplishments across the realm of short track racing in Connecticut run the gamut.

Speedbowl-nightFrom championships and wins across multiple divisions to dramatics on the track, Hutchings has seen it all over the last couple decades of racing in Connecticut.

And yet, four hours removed from a victory Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl, the Salem driver was still beaming like a rookie who had just won the first event of his career.

And Hutchings’ feeling of elation over the 25-lap Outlaw Stock feature Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl were seemingly shared by every fan, track official and anyone else who saw the heated event and spectacular finish.

Hutchings won the three-wide battle to the checkered flag. And oh yeah, he was going backwards when he took that checkered flag.

The sentiment among most anyone who watched the event was essentially the same: “If only we could see short track events like that every single week of the season.”

For a look at what seemingly everyone was talking about Saturday night at the Speedbowl, check out the Sid’s View Productions webisode below from Saturday’s dramatic event.

  1. Jay needs to lighten up.

  2. Nothing is ever Jay’s fault… That was a great race… What troubles me is some people actually think that was an “embarrassing representation of our sport”… This is what we need more of in local racing… People were standing on their feet, screaming cheering up against the fence going crazy! Stuff like this will continue to put asses in the seats at tracks across the country. We need more of this…
