If it’s an open show that involves Tour Type Modifieds the chances are pretty good a betting sort would want to put their money behind the driver known as Big Money Matt.
And Matt Hirschman proved that to be true once against Saturday at Wall Stadium in Wall, N.J.
Hirschman took the lead the from Rowan Pennink on a late restart and drove to victory in the 150-lap Tour Type Modified feature at the 40th Turkey Derby at Wall Stadium.
It was the second consecutive Turkey Derby victory for Hirschman, of Northampton, Pa., who has made a career in the past couple years of winning whatever big open shows are taking place on the Modified racing calendar.
Doug Coby of Milford was second and Rowan Pennink of Huntingdon Valley, Pa. third.
Danny Bohn led the first 120 laps of the event before pitting under caution and handing the lead to Pennink with 30 laps remaining. On the ensuing restart, Hirschman went to the lead past Pennink and never trailed again.
It marks a sweep of the major late season shows in 2013 for Hirschman, who also won the North-South Shootout earlier this month at Caraway Speedway.
