ISMA SuperMods Schedule Two Visits To State Tracks In 2014; Stafford Speedway Trip Not Currently Planned

It looks as if the International SuperModified Association will not be hitting the Connecticut short track trifecta in 2014.

ISMA Supers LogoThe series released its 2014 schedule on Tuesday and Stafford Motor Speedway was not part of it.

Stafford has hosted the division annually for the last 10 years as part of a special “Xtreme” show that has been sponsored annually by CarQuest. The event was run as Xtreme Tuesday for eight years and then run as Xtreme Saturday the last two years. Stafford Motor Speedway announced last month that CarQuest would not be returning as a track partner/sponsor in 2014.

Stafford Motor Speedway CEO Mark Arute said the track is still finalizing its schedule and it hasn’t been decided yet whether or not the event will return.

“We haven’t released a schedule yet,” Arute said. “We’re still trying to decide on some things with that show given the circumstances we’re in with sponsorship,

Asked if the SuperModifieds were definitely off the track’s schedule for 2014 Arute said: “Nothing is definite. Right now it doesn’t look as though that’s where we’re headed with it though.”

ISMA released a 14-event SuperModified schedule for 2014, with the series opening May 3 at Oswego (N.Y.) Speedway.

The division is scheduled to run at the Waterford Speedbowl on Aug. 9 as part of the track’s traditional Wings and Wheels show. The division closes its 2014 campaign on Oct. 19 as part of the Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing at Thompson Speedway.

The entire schedule is listed on the ISMA SuperModified website.

  1. Once more Waterford get’s the shaft when they stop at Lee before going to the Bowl for Wings & Wheels. It’s not far for Waterford fans when a quarter of the field can’t make the waterford show because they crashed the night before.

  2. who cares about the toilet bowl. As long as they are always at Thompson
