Waterford Speedbowl management will host their annual holiday toy drive event on Dec. 17 at Groton Inn and Suites in Groton.
The event will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission to the event is one unwrapped toy. Each person donating an unwrapped toy will receive a raffle ticket and be entered to win one of numerous door prizes.
Toys will be donated to the Tommy Toy Fund, which has been providing toys, books and other special items to underprivileged children in Eastern Connecticut since 1974.
Waterford Speedbowl management is also preparing for their annual banquet, which will take place on Jan. 11 at the Groton Inn and Suites.
Tickets for the banquet are now available for purchase. For more information, check out the Waterford Speedbowl website.
Waterford Speedbowl owner Terry Eames confirmed Saturday that all outstanding purse checks for competitors from 2013 events at the track will be mailed on Monday.
Im sure all those checks are gonna clear.
As am I.
Yeah, what about 2012 checks also??
I hope real checks come unlike the imaginary ones like last year. It is only fitting purse checks are being sent out just in time for banquet tickets.hmmmm. It’s a sad situation that seems to happen more and more frequent. The truth is that most teams and competitors love for the track and competition out weighs another screw job.
Debra and Ian,
According to the management of the Waterford Speedbowl all competitors have been compensated for all events during the 2012 season, and that was actually taken care of quite a while ago. If you do have any issues with not getting paid going to back to 2012 you probably need to take that up with the management of the Speedbowl directly rather than here.
i’m really not quite sure who you got your information from, but we have never received payment for the final race of 2012. And yes, I have notified Waterford Speedbowl regarding this issue several times through email and have never received a response .
