New Hampshire Motor Speedway Officials Ready To Search For Next Speedway Star

On March 24, New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials will begin accepting entries for their fifth Speedway Star singing contest.

Speedaway StarLast year it was 23-year old Whitney Doucet who jumped out of the crowd during the finals of the competition, and a few months later she was singing the national anthem before the track’s annual July NASCAR Nationwide Series event.

“The Speedway Star competition was a great time,” Doucet said in a release. “To have the opportunity to sing in front of NASCAR fans, which are the most fun people to sing for, was such an amazing experience. If there were ever another opportunity for me to sing the national anthem at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway I would do it again in a heartbeat.”

This year’s competition finals will again be held at the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester on April 26. Prospective contestants must submit a DVD, CD, .wav file or .mp3 file of themselves singing the National Anthem a cappella. Submissions will be accepted through April 11 at 5 p.m. Contestants will be competing for two open spots for singing the national anthem during events at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in July and September.
