Keith Rocco will be reuniting with an old team when the Whelen Modified Tour rolls into Stafford Motor Speedway for the Call Before You Dig 150 on Aug. 8.

Rocco, of Wallingford, will get behind the wheel of the Boehler Racing Enterprises Ole Blue No. 3 for the event at Stafford Speedway.

Rocco raced for the team in 2012, winning the Whelen Modified Tour Rookie of the Year award that season.

Rocco has made four Whelen Modified Tour starts for team owner John Rufrano this year, but Rocco said Rufrano wanted to focus on the Whelen Modified Tour event on Aug. 13 at Thompson Speedway.

“I really enjoyed working with them guys in the past,” Rocco said. “John is away on vacation then. … He said he’d rather just run the Thompson Speedway race on [on Aug. 13]. We’re not racing for points, we’re just doing this for fun. I figured we’re can run [the Boehler car] and maybe we can learn some things for our team.”

Rocco’s best finish this year in Whelen Modified Tour action was an eighth place in the Mr. Rooter 161 at the Waterford Speedbowl in June. He has 18 career Whelen Modified Tour starts dating back to 2008, with two top-five’s and eight top-10’s.
