It’s a triple threat week of racing in the state of Connecticut with all three NASCAR Whelen All-American Series tracks in action.
After a two-month break in their oval track schedule, Thompson Speedway comes back to life Wednesday with a special “Beach Party Bash” event.
The SK Modifieds will be showcased for the event with the division running two 20-lap races and 10-lap sprint.
Stafford Motor Speedway holds its first Facebook Friday event with special discounts for Facebook users (check below for details). And the Waterford Speedbowl is back in action with a six-event NASCAR Whelen All-American Series card Saturday.

More: The fourth event of the season at Thompson and the third of five weekly events in 2014. … In the track’s last oval event, on May 29, Ryan Preece swept both SK Modified features that were run. Keith Rocco won the only other SK Modified event run at the track this season, on April 6. … Preece leads Rocco by two points in the SK Modified division standings. Woody Pitkat is eight points behind in third place and Danny Cates is fourth in the standings, 22 points behind Preece. … Glen Boss won for the second time in three events this season in the Late Model division on May 29. … Rocco won the other Late Model event at the track this year. … Boss leads the Late Model standings by 42 points over second place John Lowinski-Loh. Marc Curtis Jr. is third in the standings, 50 points behind the lead. … Shawn Monahan won in the Limited Sportsman division in the last event at the track and has won three of the four events run in the division this season. Fans who show from their cell phones that they’ve shared the track’s July 25th event page or Aug. 1 event page on their own Facebook page will receive $3 off a general admission ticket. Also, any fans who follow the Stafford Speedway Twitter page and who use the hashtags “StaffordSK5K” or “StaffordFBF” in a tweet including @staffordspeedwy by Friday will be entered to win two tickets to the Aug. 29 Valenti Modified Racing Series event at Stafford. … Last week, Rowan Pennink was victorious in the track’s inaugural NAPA Auto Parts SK 5K. … It was the first victory of the season at Stafford for Pennink, who had not recorded a top-10 finish in his first five starts of the season before last week. … Ryan Preece has won four of the eight SK Modified events run this season at Stafford. Other winners include Ted Christopher and rookies Chase Dowling and Ronnie Williams. … Christopher leads the SK Modified division standings by 28 points over Preece. Woody Pitkat is third, 50 points off the lead. … Jay Stuart won for the third time this season in the Late Model division last week. … In eight events this season, Stuart has finished in the top-three seven times and finished fourth in the only other event. .. Other winners in the division this year include Adam Gray (twice), JJ Hill, Jim Peterson and Tom Fearn. … Stuart holds a 38-point lead over second place Gray at the top of Late Model division standings. More: The 16th event of the season at the shoreline oval. … Last week, Keith Rocco won for the eighth time in 15 SK Modified events at the track this season and in the process tied Dennis Gada at the top of the track’s all-time win list for the division with 62 career victories. … Other SK Modified division winners this year include Ed Puleo (twice), Kyle James (twice), Tyler Chadwick, Joey Gada and Craig Lutz. … Rocco has a 193-point advantage over second place Lutz in the SK Modified division standings at Waterford. Rob Janovic Jr. is third in the standings, 198 points off the lead. … Rocco also got his eighth victory of the season in the track’s Late Model division last week. Bruce Thomas Jr. (three wins), Vin Esposito (two wins) and Jason Palmer (two wins) are the division’s other winners this year. … Rocco leads Thomas by 37 points in the standings.
