STAFFORD – After watching a win slip out of his hands on July 11 at Stafford Motor Speedway, Joey Ferrigno was in need of a major pick me up on Friday at the track.

He got exactly what he was looking for.

Ferrigno went to the lead by Bob Charland and never trailed again in winning the 22-lap RH2Way “Going The Extra Mile” SK Light Modified feature Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Charland, of Stafford, was second and Nick Salva of Prospect third.

On July 11 Ferrigno’s car suffered a mechanical failure while he was leading with less than two laps remaining.

“We needed this after last week,” Ferrigno said. “It was such a heartbreaker. With all the work and the time and money that goes into this car. I felt more bad for my guys than anything else.

“Last week the car was the best it ever was. The thing went out to the lead and the heartbreak I had when it shut off. I need this win more than anything. Coming back this, week just the smiles on the faces of the guys that help me made it all worthwhile. It was awesome.”

Based on his seventh place finish in the RH2Way sponsored SK Light Modified feature on May 17 at the Waterford Speedbowl, Ferrigno – on Friday with his win – clinched the additional RH2Way dual track $200 bonus award.

Fittingly, Ferrigno is sponsored by Gino Difilippo Jr.’s RH2Way company.

“Makes it even better when I’m getting Gino’s money,” Ferrigno said of the extra purse that was on the line for the event courtesy of RH2Way. “It keeps it in house.”
