Corey LaJoie is scheduled to make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut in the Sylvania 300 Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

LaJoie is the son of two-time NASCAR Nationwide Series champion and Norwalk native Randy LaJoie and the grandson of legendary Modified driver and New England Auto Racers Hall of Fame member Don LaJoie of Norwalk.

The 22-year old Corey LaJoie will compete in the event for Randy Humphrey racing, according to Motor Racing Network.

“It’s definitely a big leap from what I’ve been doing,’’ Corey LaJoie told Motor Racing Network. “It’s more often than not that the drivers invest with the team and bring the money and sponsors. To find a team investing in drivers is few and far between.’’

Corey LaJoie has five career K&N Pro Series East victories, all coming in 2012 when he finished second in the series standings. He has not made any K&N Pro Series East starts this season. He has two career Nationwide Series starts, one in 2013 and one this season. He also has three victories in six ARCA Racing Series starts. All three victories in the ARCA Racing Series action came in 2013.

Corey LaJoie is a developmental driver for Richard Petty Motorsports.

“I’ve got to make my own path,’’ Corey LaJoie told MRN. “Maybe start from the bottom and work my way up. I thought I would be in this point four years ago, but God’s plans are always going to prevail and you’ve got to go along with it and trust that it is the right one.’’
