The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour musical chairs of ride changing took another spin on Monday when it was announced that Timmy Solomito will drive for Flamingo Motorsports in 2015.

The Flamingo Motorsports ride became open when 2013 series champion Ryan Preece announced on day after the season’s end that he was leaving the team to drive or Eddie Partridge in 2015.

Solomito, of Islip, N.Y., was the 2014 Whelen Modified Tour Rookie of the Year driving for team owner Wayne Anderson.

“It’s the opportunity of a lifetime,” Solomito said in a release from NASCAR.”The 16 team seems real organized. They have a lot of experience on the tour and that’s really going to be beneficial. I’m excited to work with the guys, they seem like really nice people.

“[This] was kind of unexpected. I’m sure they had plenty of inquiries about the opening. I feel fortunate for the opportunity and I’m excited to start another chapter on the tour. Hopefully we can have some good runs next year and do really well.”

Solomito, 22, had six top-10’s in 13 series starts in 2014, his first full-time season on the tour. He had originally expected to run part-time in 2014 with Anderson.

“I really want to thank Wayne Anderson for the opportunity this year, he really put my name on the map,” Solomito said. “Without Wayne this opportunity would have never come about, so I really have to thank him and Eastport Feeds for their support.”
