Joey Logano celebrates his 25th birthday with New Hampshire Motor Speedway Wednesday in Nashua, N.H.

Who better than 25-year-old Joey Logano, the youngest winner in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series history, to help celebrate New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s 25th anniversary celebration? The reigning Daytona 500 champion and Magic Mile September race winner visited with more than 150 fans, media and friends on Wednesday night in Nashua, to launch the speedway’s silver anniversary season and get everyone revved up for the New Hampshire 301 on July 19.

Logano, known for his infectious grin off the track and tenacious style on it, was all smiles in an evening filled with special guests, birthday presents and fun games with fans as he gears up for his return to New Hampshire in less than two months.

“I may have won the Daytona 500, but it’s bigger to win at Loudon, that’s how much it means to me,” said the recently turned 25-year-old Logano, who became the youngest winner in Sprint Cup Series history at 19 years and 35 days with his victory in Loudon on June 28, 2009. “I love coming to New Hampshire. I walk out on that stage during driver introductions and I feel like a hero with all those people cheering for me.”

Logano is in his seventh full season racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and his third driving the No. 22 for Penske Racing. While his win in 2009 at NHMS was historic and meaningful, Logano’s second win at the 1.058-mile oval last September was something the native of Middletown, Conn., will never forget.

“It meant so much to me to win there in September,” said Logano, who had the best season of his career in 2014 with 22 top-10s, including 16 top-fives and five wins. “I struggled there for so long, so to finally reach the top and win was just amazing. I can’t express how much that win meant to me.”

Logano was introduced to a raucous ovation on Wednesday night as fans welcomed the New Englander into the ballroom of the Radisson in Nashua. Logano spent time reflecting on favorite NHMS memories with legendary announcers Ken Squier and Dick Berggren, while Performance Radio Network veteran play-by-play announcer Doug Rice served as the emcee.

New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan also welcomed Logano to New Hampshire and delivered a proclamation. Hassan declared May 27, 2015 as “New Hampshire Motor Speedway Silver Anniversary Day,” noting the speedway’s 11 million race fans and $8.8 billion boost to the New Hampshire economy since it first opened its doors a quarter century ago.

Logano also answered questions and was given a New England-themed birthday gift – a lobster trap coffee table, topped with glass with a stuffed three-pound lobster and engraved with his birthday, “May 24, 2015.”

“I hope Brittany likes it because it’s going right in the living room,” joked Logano, referencing his wife, whom he married in December of 2014.

He finished the night time playing ping pong, air hockey, foosball and racing fans on a Nintendo Wii on the big screen. Logano was dominant at the table games, but after dropping the first race in Mario Kart, he challenged his foe to a best-of-three – to which he won the next two races.

“I don’t like to lose, especially when it comes to racing,” said Logano, once again showing off that irresistible smile that adorns him to so many NASCAR race fans.
