STAFFORD – After being forced to sit out a week early in the 2015 season because of a suspension Tom Fearn’s focus for the season became wins and wins alone.

Clearly that focus is searing for the East Longmeadow, Mass. driver.

With three events remaining in 2015, Fearn will be chasing a double digit win total in 2015.

Fearn rolled to his ninth win in 18 starts Friday in the 30-lap Late Model feature at Stafford Motor Speedway.

“Any season, nine wins, you can’t believe it,” Fearn said. “We’ve just got things going good now. We just keep at it every week.”

Kevin Gambacorta of Ellington was second and Michael Bennett of Stafford third.

After all was said and done Friday, the scary part for Fearn’s competition is that the dominant force in the division this year wasn’t very happy with his winning car Friday.

“I really had to work for this one,” Fearn said. “The car really wasn’t great tonight. But hey, we’ll come back next week with something better. … We’re not quitting. We’re still working on the car trying to make it faster. If you rest on your laurels they’re going to catch up.”

  1. Did they check just mufflers in tech again this week? What a joke. You’d think that if someone won so often, they would actually inspect something that was a little more important. Maybe even check something that had a rule change this year. Seems a little weird that some divisions have the rear end inspected while another only has mufflers checked.

  2. Stuart Fearn, owner 92LM says

    Kevin,
To answer your question, tech last night was carburetor tear down and also a detailed check of the tires including serial number check on both inside and outside sidewalls of our tires. The technical inspection staff also used a purpose built chemical detection device on the tires in victory lane and a second time in the inspection area on all four tires. Is this sufficient for you? Very glad you show concern.

For background information some other items we’ve had inspected this year include (new rules): spring rate, gear ratio. Shocks were also checked, all four. There is no new rule here even though some teams thought so (joke there). Other normals items in tech include: fuel almost every week, axles, spindles, bearings, chassis measurements, crankshaft, piston, connecting rod identification, distributor, driveshaft, tire confiscated all week for inspection, sway bar, track width, wheel base, and rear end a different week.

  3. You tell ’em Stu. Way to go. Tom’s a great driver.
