Rob Fuller Motorsports will have an experienced racing veteran behind the wheel of its No. 15 modified during the upcoming North-South Shootout event at Concord Speedway on November 6-7, as Bobby Santos is slated to make his return to an LFR Chassis machine. Santos, the 2010 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, previously competed in an LFR Chassis modified at Oswego Speedway back in April.

“I’m looking forward to working with Bobby again at Concord Speedway,” said Rob Fuller, team owner. “Oswego Speedway was a last minute deal at a track I’d never been to on a tire we had never run before, and we still wound up second in practice there, so to go to a track we are both familiar with should be fun. It’s a great weekend of modified racing with both north and south teams competing. We should have four LFR Chassis cars in the field, which is double what it normally is, so I’m looking forward to watching everyone work together and see how we stack up at the end of the day.”

Santos’ first run in an LFR Chassis at Oswego Speedway did not go as planned, as he got swept up in an accident during a heat-race early on in the racing weekend. The North-South Shootout entry now provides him with a chance at redemption.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to race for Rob again,” explained Santos. “He’s a great guy, and I want to do well for him and his team. Earlier this year we worked together but a crash ruined our day, so I’m looking forward to getting back into one of his cars and trying again. His program has had a lot of success this year, so I’m excited to see what I can learn from it during this race.”

Not only is Santos making his return to LFR Chassis, but he’s also making his return to the North-South Shootout, a race he last competed in back in 2008. He has raced in the event four times, with his best finish coming in 2007 when he placed third.

“I’m ready to be back racing in the North-South Shootout,” said Santos. “I haven’t won this event before, so I’m excited to have another shot at it! I enjoy Concord Speedway a lot too. I have a USAC Midget win there, so I know the track really well and love racing there. It’s a unique track, but lots of fun!”

Santos is also looking forward to mixing it up with some fresh faces while competing in his Rob Fuller Motorsports modified, as racers from across the country come to compete in this race.

“It’s always tough racing with people you’re not familiar with, but fun at the same time,” he said. “Some racers you get to know well and you know their tendencies, but with new racers it’s different. You need to be extra cautious at times but also extra aggressive. It’s definitely a different deal out on the track with them. You always have to expect the unexpected!”
