STAFFORD – On May 20, after winning the Limited Late Model feature at Stafford Motor Speedway, Paul Arute made the prediction that his team was going to “win a bunch of races” this year.

Friday Arute, of Tolland, was back at the track backing up that prediction.

For the second consecutive week Paul Arute was victorious at Stafford, scoring the win in the Xtra Mart Xtra D 25-lap Limited Late Model feature Friday.

“That was a blast,” Arute said. “I roughed up a couple guys on the way up there and I apologize for that. But this car was hooked up. … This car was awesome.”

Albert Saunders of Stafford was second and Duane Provost of Springfield, Mass. third.

Arute made the most of engaging the special sponsorship from Xtra Mart and the extra five laps from the normal 20-lap distance for the division.

Arute went by Saunders for second on lap 20 and then two laps later dove under Cliff Saunders for the lead going into turn three.

“Those five extra laps, I don’t think I could have caught him if I didn’t have those,” Arute said.
