THOMPSON – The numbers have been so good for Keith Rocco at Thompson Speedway this year, even he’s not sure how good they are.

Four consecutive SK Modified wins?

“That might be a record for me,” Rocco said.

What is known that is that Rocco has been perfect in 2016.

Four races at the track this year, four victories for Rocco.

Rocco, of Wallingford, rolled easily to victory in the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature Wednesday at Thompson Speedway.

“We’ve got the awesome horsepower under the hood with [Pettit Racing Engines],” Rocco said. “I can’t do it without him. I’ve got to thank [team owners] Mark and Mike Pane. Love and hate relationship right there, but right now I love them.

“We have all the right pieces of the puzzle. The car is in my shop and I’m the last one that touches it before it comes off the scale pads and it just makes a difference.”

Ronnie Williams of Tolland was second and Ryan Preece of Berlin third.

Rocco went by Preece for second on lap eight and on the next lap Rocco used a low move into turn three to get under leader Rowan Pennink. The two cars drifted high in turn four with Rocco coming out of the corner with a lead he wouldn’t let go of again.

“The new tire they went to definitely, if you have the right setup for the car it definitely sticks,” Rocco said “… It makes for good racing.”

Comments

  1. Nobody drives it in deeper in the corner than kid rock. He just don’t lift until he gets the lead from whomever he is side by side with. Unreal!!

  2. Ronnie Williams completely outdrove Preece for second place in the closing laps.
