Tony Membrino Jr. Wins The New England Racing Fuel Support Performer Of The Week Award

NE Racing Fuel Support Performer Award

The singular constant this season across the board for the SK Light Modified division at Connecticut short tracks has been Tony Membrino Jr.

The Berlin driver has won eight of nine SK Light Modified division events run in the state of Connecticut in 2016. He has won four of five events run at Stafford Motor Speedway, all three events the New London-Waterford Speedbowl and the lone event run at Thompson Speedway.

And he’s been nearly as dominant in another realm.

This week Membrino, who won Friday’s SK Light Modified event at Stafford Speedway, earned 94 of 153 votes cast (61.4 percent) to win the award once again.

Robert Bloxsom III of Stratford, who got his first Limited Late Model division win last week at Stafford, was second in the voting with 25 votes (16.3 percent).

Each week during the 2016 racing season the New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Support Performer of the Week will be chosen from among drivers competing in events in one of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly support divisions (excludes SK Modified divisions) at Stafford Motor Speedway, Thompson Speedway and the Waterford Speedbowl.

Membrino will receive a $20 certificate for race fuel from New England Racing Fuel.
