kenneth-massa-motorsports-logoKenneth Massa Motorsports has hired Dan Laferriere as crew chief of the No. 51 Whelen Modified Tour team driven by Justin Bonsignore.

Laferriere joined the team at the start of the 2016 season serving as Car Chief under former Crew Chief Bill Michael.

Laferriere is no stranger to the Crew Chief role, as he has served as crew chief in the past for multiple teams, during that time he led those teams to multiple poles, wins and top 5’s in points. This experience combined with the success of Kenneth Massa Motorsports over the last several seasons is expected to form a winning combination for the 2017 Season.

“It is an honor to be selected as the crew chief of the No. 51 team,” said Laferriere. “I would like to thank Ken Massa and everyone at Kenneth Massa Motorsports for the opportunity to be a part of this championship-caliber team. I look forward to working hard to build a team that consistently wins races and competes for championships.”

“We are excited about having Dan as he brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to Kenneth Massa Motorsports,” said Massa. “We are confident that he will be able to take the No. 51 program to another level, and we are already discussing which route we are going to take with the cars. Dan’s first year with a Spafco chassis was last year although he has experience working with the top three manufactures. We will be weighing our options to bring what’s going to best for Justin, Danny and the team.”

Driver Justin Bonsignore was extremely excited when asked about the hiring. Bonsignore said.

“Having Dan step up and take over the team was hands down the right choice, we have worked together for a full season already, which should ease the transition process. Danny already knows and understands my lingo, and vice versa. Danny was a big part in elevating our program in 2016, and have 100% faith that we will come out of the gate just as strong for 2017, I believe we will contend for the title again.”

Following on a second place finish in the Tour Standings in 2017, Kenneth Massa Motorsports facilities will remain at its new North Franklin, CT location. In addition all crew members from the 2016 season will return. The team will continue to evaluate its options for equipment to put the best cars on the track next spring, as the team continues its drive toward a Tour Championship.
