AVONDALE, Ariz. – Ryan Preece drove the G&K Services Chevrolet to a 22nd-place finish Saturday in the Ticket Galaxy 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.

The race was the next-to-last Xfinity event of the season.

Preece qualified 26th and finished the race one lap down.

“We had a pretty good car tonight,” Preece said. “It was hard to break into the lead group, but we held steady throughout the evening and got the car home in one piece. Now we’ll concentrate on Homestead.”

Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch won the race, leading 190 of the 200 laps.

The Xfinity Series season is scheduled to end with a Nov. 19 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida. Daniel Suarez, Justin Allgaier, Elliott Sadler and Erik Jones will compete for the Xfinity championship in that race.

Comments

  1. Will he be re-signed or does he have a multi-yr contract? 6 DNF’s (so far, hope that’s it) didn’t help in points.

  2. 6 DNFs look bad on paper. Also have to look back and see why they fell out. I’m going to say over 50% of them were motors blowing up or Shocks flying out of the cars…..

  3. I’d like to hear Ryan’s honest outlook on this situation. For a moment it seemed like that car was turning into top 15 material. I was told around that time there was some personnel changes. But these last handful of races it looks like they are struggling for top 20s. Seems odd that they have shown zero improvement from the beginning of the year. Maybe finances started dwindling towards the end of the year?
