Ryan Preece Grabs Modified Win On Night Three Of New Smyrna World Series

After two races with underdogs scoring victories at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway this week, Thursday it was one of the top dogs of the Whelen Modified Tour scoring the trip to victory lane.

Ryan Preece of Berlin held off the charges of Matt Hirschman to get the win in the John Blewett III Memorial 76 Thursday at the World Series at New Smyrna Speedway.

Hirschman, of Northampton, Pa., was second and Ron Silk of Norwalk third.

JR Bertuccio won on the first night of Modified competition on Monday. Tyler Rypkema was the upset victor on Tuesday. Wednesday’s event was rained out.

The Tour Type Modified division closes out their week of competition Friday at New Smyrna with the running of the Richie Evans Memorial 10o.
