Ryan Waterman Awarded Thompson Limited Sportsman Victory After Brent Gleason DQ

Thompson Speedway officials announced late Sunday evening that Brent Gleason, who had won Sunday’s special extra distance 30-lap Limited Sportsman feature, was disqualified from the victory.

A release from the track only stated that Gleason was disqualified after post race inspection.

The victory was awarded to Ryan Waterman of Danielson, who finished second on the track. Chris Meyer of Norwich was moved to second and Shawn Monahan of Waterford third.

Before track officials officially announced the disqualification, Gleason posted the following on Facebook: “Might as well end the rumors now, I got DQ’d for compression and valve angle. I doubt it made any difference in the result and I drove my heart out, I respect the call made by the officials. If it’s illegal it’s illegal. I had no say in it, I just took a motor that was given to me and that was it. I doubt I’ll be back because I don’t have the money.”
