STAFFORD – There was no tempering the celebration of Kevin Gambacorta Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

But his competition in the Late Model division at the track may want to take notice of what he said after victory.

He knows there’s more to find in the car that bested the field.

Gambacorta, of Ellington, used a last lap pass of Tyler Leary to win the 30-lap Late Model feature Friday at Stafford.

“This is one badass racecar,” Gambacorta said. “But it can still be better. Made it a little better this week, but it can still be better. This is unreal to have a car like this.”

Leary, of Hatfield, Mass., was second and Glen Reen of Wilbraham, Mass. third.

The victory followed up a second place finish in the 50-lap feature for the division on May 12 for Gambacorta.

“I’m just excited because there’s still a little bit more,” said Gambacorta, who had his first two wins in the Late Model division last year. “Last week I wasn’t real comfortable with the car and we were really fast. I’m fortunate to be good friends with Jay Stuart. I sat at his shop for like three hours on Saturday night and we just talked about stuff. We made a change, we made it better and there’s still a little bit more, I can get back to the gas a little bit quicker I think. I’m just excited that that car is that good.”
