Speedbowl Notes: Al Stone III Rocks The Limited Sportsman Feature At Waterford

Al Stone III celebrates victory in the Limited Sportsman feature Saturday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl

WATERFORD – Last year Al Stone III closed out the 2016 season at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl celebrating on the track.

Stone left the Speedbowl celebrating his second consecutive Limited Sportsman championship last year, and his four title overall in the division.

Saturday Stone returned immediately to celebration mode at the Speedbowl.

Stone, of Durham, dominated in winning the 25-lap Limited Sportsman feature Saturday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl Blastoff 2017.

Chris Meyer of Norwich was second and Ryan Waterman of Durham third.

“It definitely wasn’t easy,” Stone said. “Just because we started up front doesn’t mean it was an easy race to win. Chris [Meyer] and Ryan [Waterman], they’re on top of their game. They’re two of the best out here. So to be able to win this tonight with those two guys riding my bumper is an accomplishment. I’m tired.”

Keith Rocco of Wallingford won the 25-lap Late Model feature.

Ray Christian III of Uncasville was second and Anthony Flannery of East Hampton third.

Brett Gonyaw of Vernon won the 25-lap SK Light Modified feature.

Glenn Griswold of Vernon was second and John O’Sullivan III of Salem was third.

Jordan Hadley of Waterford won the 25-lap Mini Stock feature. Charles Canfield of East Haven was second and Sean Caron of East Hampton third.

Joey Ternullo of Middletown won the 25-lap Legends feature. Cory DiMatteo of Farmington was second and John O’Sullivan III of Salem third.

Duane Noll of Monroe won the 25-lap Truck feature. Jim Boyle of East Windsor was second and Jordan Churchill of Lisbon third.

Any idea where I can get a complete rundown of the finishes? Nothing on the track website and Speedhive only has practice times.

  2. Sharpie Fan,
I’m not sure where the track is posting full results, if anywhere. Speednet is gone unfortunately.

  3. Any word if they’re going to kick Porter out for the rest of the year? I’d be shocked if they didn’t. Hopefully Hadley hadn’t taken his belts off yet.

Is there a rest if the year. Or was it a one and done deal. This Beemer cat seems to be Shadey
