Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway, RJ Surdell was able to keep the field deep enough in his rearview mirror to drive away and win his first career Limited Late Model feature at the track.
Tuesday he came out on top of a closer battle for more spoils from that on-track victory.
In a battle that was tight from Sunday afternoon until just a couple hours before voting concluded, Surdell won this week’s New England Racing Fuel Support Performer of the Week Award.
Surdell, of Willington, ended up with 295 of 840 votes cast (35.1 percent). Wesley Prucker of Stafford, who won his first SK Light Modified feature Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway, was second in the voting with 269 votes (32 percent).
Glenn Korner of Canton, who won his first SK Light Modified feature Saturday at Thompson Speedway, was a distant third in the voting with 123 votes (14.6 percent). Eight drivers were nominated for the award.
Surdell and Prucker remained within 10 votes of each other through Sunday and Monday and with just over three hours remaining in the voting, Surdell held a one-vote lead over Prucker.
Surdell will receive a $20 certificate for race fuel from New England Racing Fuel.
