Money Men: Rowan Pennink Scores $5K MTS Win At Speedbowl; Eric Goodale Gets $10K Title

Eric Goodale won the first Modified Touring Series championship Sunday

When the dust settled on the season finale for the Exit Realty Modified Touring Season Sunday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl, it was Rowan Pennink and Eric Goodale ready for some large payments from track officials.

Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, Pa. won the event 125-lap MTS feature, which carried a first place prize of $5,000.

Eric Goodale of Riverhead, N.Y. finished second to capture the first Modified Touring Series championship, which came with an advertised award of $10,000.

Chris Pasteryak of Lisbon was third.

Goodale was one of five drivers that came into the last event vying for the championship. He was joined in the championship chase field by Tommy Barrett, Jon McKennedy, Woody Pitkat and Richard Savary. The five drivers had to start at the rear of the 22-car field Sunday.

Barrett, of Millis, Mass., fourth. McKennedy, of Chelmsford, Mass., was fifth. Savary, of Canton, Mass., was 13th. Pitkat, of Stafford, was involved in a wreck and finished 21st.

Barrett inherited the lead from Pasteryak on lap 54 when Pasteryak pitted out of the lead. Pennink was able to get by Barrett for the lead near lap 87 and took Goodale with him to second and Pasteryak to third.

  1. Congratulations Rowan!! It may have been a rocky beginning but I am so happy to see you in Victory Lane

  2. Second Robin’s comment. Pennink underrated for being able to win in multiple series on multiple tracks.

Did the checks clear the bank?

  4. I believe banks are closed on sundays!

  5. Ill back em
    I.got $$$$

  6. Muddbus461 says

Where were the other 11 cars that the MTS had listed on their entry list?

  7. robin has it right rowan in victory lane, cool!!!

  8. LongTimeFan says

Congratulations to Rowan on the win and to Eric on the championship.

  9. What car was Rowan in? Who are his sponsors? And Who wrote this little “article” that lacks any style or detail?
Gotta help the sponsors, that help get the cars there in the first place

  10. When will drivers learn that you shouldn’t take the outside on a critical restart? Barrett was dominant from the outside on restarts until it really mattered. Then, Pennink “ran him up” and it was all over.

  11. darealgoodfella says

Never take the outside on a late restart. Eight are better than four comes into play. Better to run someone up than to get run up.

  12. darealgoodfella says

    Pennink is awesome.

He and the 3 will be NWMT champions next season.

    🏁

  13. You guys weren’t there obviously. Rowan wrecked the 73 and sent the 9 into the woods. He’s a hack. Never amount to anything. Will not win a tour race EVER. Win a tour championship?? That’s a good one. Wish they sold tickets to lala land. Would like to visit you folks one day.

  14. When you have 80 horsepower over the entire field you should go around competitors. Not through them. Unless your talent level won’t allow it of course.

  15. Cash is king!

  16. Pennink took Barrett high to get the lead…like, Pennink’s right side tires were about a foot or two below the white line for the UPPER groove.

  17. some one should of checked his carb

  18. Does everyone forget about what Barrett did to Rowan at Star Speedway? Cost Rowan a 2nd and himself a 3rd. Up in the spotters booth Barrett was told to pick a lane 3 times instead of driving all lanes and blocking. Cost himself some places that race and a possible championship. All he had to do was finish ahead of Goodale. So he has no one to blame but himself. Why use up your car when the guy you have to beat is behind you. Sounds crazy, but where is the common sense.

  19. Barrett was taking Pennink high all around the track for abut 10 to 15 laps. Blocking instead of keeping his eye on a championship and staying in front of Goodale. Then he got to high and Pennink got under him and returned the favor. What’s good for one is good for the other. And if his car was so good why did he finish 3 quaters of a track behind the leader?

  20. MARK YOUR COMMENTS ARE RIGHT ON THE MONEY
    SPEAKING OF MONEY IM.LOADED

  21. Gary Casella says

thank you Craig everything you said exactly true , just for the record, that carb has been check by 3 different tours , and that engine is completely worn out and has way less power then those guys running steel heads

  22. darealgoodfella says

Well Mark, what are your thoughts about what Craig said?

  23. Speaking of driving through people that’s what Barrett did at Star to Rowan during the Tri Track Series on the last turn. But that’s OK right? Watch the video on You Tube. Barrett went to hard into 1 and left space on the bottom. Rowan then drove the same lane he did for 15 previous laps. What’s good for one is good for the other.
