Vinny Biondolillo Tabbed To Drive Joe Ambrose NASCAR Modified At Riverhead In 2018

Entering his seventh year behind the wheel of a NASCAR Modified in 2018 Vinny Biondolillo of Farmingville announced today that he’ll do so driving for noted and veteran Long Island car owner Joe Ambrose, a past championship car owner. The new team will debut at Riverhead Raceway on Saturday night May 5th for the Cinco De Mayo opening night race card for the 2018 NASCAR Whelen All American Series at the historic quarter mile venue.

“I can’t tell you how honored and thrilled I am for this opportunity to drive for Joe Ambrose” Biondolillo, 20 said while making the announcement. “Joe knows his way around a NASCAR Modified and his past success speaks for itself”. Vinny disclosed the team will utilize a 1991 Troyer car out of the Ambrose race shop and laid out some of the logistics for the new pairing, “we’ll keep the car at our shop where my father (Andrew) and I will maintain the car then Joe will come out and put the set-up in the car for race day”. Looking towards the fast approaching new season Biondolillo outlined some his goals for 2018, “we just want to come out have some fun and be competitive weekly and along the way hopefully get back to victory lane”. Vinny has one career NASCAR Modified win to his credit that coming on August 1st, 2015 at Riverhead.

After just one year in the INEX Legend Race Cars in 2011 at 13 years old Vinny Biondolillo and his team owned by his parents Andrew & Michelle ventured into NASCAR Modified racing at Riverhead in 2012 primarily funding the car out of their own pocket along with a few sponsors and the elder Biondolillo admitted, “at times I felt like I was trying to put a square peg through a round hole, this is a wonderful opportunity for Vinny to advance his career”. Vinny is the nephew of the late Joe Biondolillo Jr. who ranks second on the al time Riverhead Raceway Figure Eight win list.

Vinny also announced that sponsors from his team would be moving with him to the Joe Ambrose machine as WRS Environmental Services of Yaphank, Indy 3000 Fast Lube of Medford & Mastic and Makely Industries of Bayport will back the team with Jessup Landscaping of Quogue, a long time marketing partner with car owner Joe Ambrose also signed on for 2018.

“I think we’ll do good with Vinny” projected Joe Ambrose, “late last year we went to Mahoning Valley and did some racing and we had fun and hit it off pretty good. I’m really looking forward to working with Vinny and his family this year”.

The first order of business for the new combination will be the 40-lap Cinco De Mayo May 5th opening night NASCAR Modified feature, the first of 20 scheduled point races for the 600 horsepower machines at the demanding quarter mile oval. The newly formed team is also very much looking forward to the May 26th Islip 300 at Riverhead which again will pay a handsome $7,000 to the race winner, “we’d love to win that one” Biondolillo noted.
