Mayhew Tools has agreed for the second straight year to renew their sponsorship with Woody Pitkat on the Tri-Track series, Valenti Modified Racing series and the Stafford Speedway open modified shows during the 2018 season.

Pitkat of Stafford, Ct was thrilled that the 162 year old company decided to renew it’ sponsorship this year as a primary sponsor.

“It’s huge for us to have them back again.” Pitkat said. “We had a great relationship with them last year and I am glad that they want to continue on with us in 2018. It was fun having them with us at the track last year and we are thrilled that they want to renew with us again.”

Pitkat said that he expects to have Mayhew Tools on the car a minimum of 15 races and could be on the modified for up to 22 races.

Dan Stebbins, car owner of the #52 modified is equally excited with the sponsorship and what it means. “We are definitely thrilled with our affiliation with Mayhew Tools. They are a local company and have had been a big name in Western Massachusetts for a long time. Anytime you have a local company with a national name step up, it’s a big deal.”

John Lawless, the president of Mayhew Tools is also excited to be back with Woody and Dan in 2018. “We had a great experience working with both Dan and Woody last season. They are only a few miles from our plant and with them we are able to extend our commitment to modified racing. We feel that the modifieds are one of the most exciting forms of racing.”

Pitkat, known for his driving ability whether it be in a modified or a full fender car said, “We are planning on running the two open shows at the Stafford Motor Speedway, three of the four Tri-Track series events and then anywhere from 10 to 17 Modified Racing series events. We are hoping that we can get Mayhew Tools to victory lane as many times as possible.” Woody said looking ahead to the season.

Pitkat’s first race with Mayhew Tools will be in the Valenti Modified Racing Series at the Thompson Speedway during the Icebreaker weekend on April 8th.

Pitkat is the 2015 Valenti Modified Racing Series champion and has two wins in the VMRS series at Stafford and one at Thompson as well as winning the modified race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway last summer in the Mayhew Tools sponsored machine.

Mayhew Tools is entering their third season as a sponsor of the open wheel modifieds sponsoring Doug Coby on the NASCAR Whelen modified tour, Pitkat on the non-NASCAR modified racing series and extending their sponsorship to Bobby Santos, III in his USAC Sprint car and midget series.

“It’s obvious that Mayhew Tools figures that with their sponsorship of the open wheel modifieds and with Bobby Santos on the USAC side, that they are reaching their target audience. We are certainly glad that they have taken on even a bigger role with us this year.” Pitkat said.

While Pitkat is unsure if they are going to chase a championship in the Modified Racing Series, but he said that they are going to start the year running the longtime series.

“We’ll start off on the MRS tour and see how it goes. We might bounce around a little but where ever we are, Mayhew Tools will be riding with us.”

Pitkat has visited their plant in Turners Falls, Ma. and is glad that not only the management at Mayhew Tools is embracing the modified racing but so are their employees.

“It was great to see the excitement that their employees had when we would bring the car there. They were asking a lot of questions and are happy to be involved with us.”

Pitkat is one of the top drivers on the NASCAR modified tour and is a front runner on the Valenti Modified Racing Series and should be a threat to win each time out, now, with the continued sponsorship of Mayhew Tools, it makes his team a little tougher to beat.
