Dunleavy Doubles Down For Modifiedz Night On May 25th At Stafford Speedway

(Press Release from Stafford Speedway)

Dunleavy’s Truck and Trailer Repair Modifiedz night, the biggest SK Light Modified race of the season, returns on Friday, May 25th. The SK Light Modifieds will run their longest race of the season with a 40-lap feature, doubling their weekly distance. Matching 2017, Doug Dunleavy of Dunleavy’s Truck and Trailer Repair has partnered with Stafford Speedway to put up a posted purse of $9,940 including a $2,000 payday for the winner.

If a $9,940 SK Light Modified purse wasn’t enough, Dunleavy has posted an additional $2,950 for the 2018 Modifiedz night, doubling the winners’ purse for all Stafford divisions. With the increase, the SK Modified 40-lap feature will pay a potential $3,600 to win, the Late Model 30-lap feature $1,750 to win, Limited Late Model feature $850 to win, and $400 to win for the Street Stocks.

“We’re not messing around this year,” noted Doug Dunleavy. “The event was fun last year and the SK Light Modifieds put on a great show, but this year I wanted to mix it up. The extra money will get all the drivers fired up and it will be a great show for all of us fans. You definitely don’t want to miss Modifiedz Night 2018.”

On top of the packed racing program the night will be capped off with a multimedia Fireworks display in honor of Memorial Day Weekend and all that served or are currently serving in the Military. Tickets for the loaded Friday May 25th event are just $18.50 for adults, $5 for kids 6-14, with 5 & under admitted free. Military discount tickets are just $10 with a valid military ID.

“Doug Dunleavy is a true race fan and an unbelievable supporter of Stafford Speedway and the short track racing community,” explained Mark Arute. “Last year he came to us with the idea for a special night for the SK Light Modified and we were able to pull together one of the best events of the summer. Doubling all the winners’ purses for the night is another added attraction for Modifiedz night. This will be one for the record books.”

Dunleavy’s Truck and Trailer Repair Modifiedz night is scheduled for Friday, May 25th. General admission gates are set to open at 5:15 pm, qualifying races beginning at 6:15 pm, with feature racing scheduled to begin at 7:15 pm.

  1. SK Light Fan says

Who is eligible for the 40 lap SK Light feature. It is not stated anywhere, how many cars qualify, how will the handicapping be worked for the event ect. Anybody have inside info?

  2. This is awesome- thank you Mr Dunleavy!!!

  3. If you like compact features in a special event format this is the one to see. A little extra for the SK’s, a huge night for the Lights that are just becoming so special with no worries about car counts.
Last week after spending so many laps locked in traffic Narducci either was the beneficiary of a couple car muddles resulting in chunk multi car passes out of pure luck or made unbelievably great moves at the right time. Most likely a combination of both. But in the end blowing past the Mayor on the outside then taking Prucker inside so low in 1 a wisp of dirt was kicked up was mind blowing.
The car is just in a class by itself. Everyone else is racing nicely like you’d expect for a power limited momentum division while the 01 is just flying. After suggesting Walker in the Streets had a little extra juice in his car last year and seeing it test as totally fine I know better then to suggest anything is amiss in the 01. But that car is just fast and however they handicap it I hope Bryan has the opportunity to thrill us once again coming from deep in the field.
