Foxwoods To Sponsor Monster Energy Cup Series Event At New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Kevin Harvick signs autographs Thursday at Foxwoods Resort Casino

MASHANTUCKET – The biggest sporting venue in New England is teaming up with one of the biggest casinos in the world for a multi-year partnership that will be showcased when the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series returns to New Hampshire in July.

Former Monster Energy Cup champion Kevin Harvick was on hand Thursday at Foxwoods Resort Casino to announce the branding of the July 22 Monster Energy Cup event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway as the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301.

“It feels super special,” New Hampshire Motor Speedway executive vice president and general manager David McGrath said. “This is an iconic New England brand and we were just absolutely thrilled to merge our business and their business and figure out fun new ways to bring this energy to race fans for years to come.”

Harvick greeted a large group of fans at the announcement Thursday outside the Grand Pequot Tower at Foxwoods. He talked about the importance of the continued relationships between major NASCAR facilities and quality sponsor supporters for the sport.

“The thing about partnerships like this … having a sponsor with the outlets – and I’m not talking about the mall – I’m talking about the outlets that they have just from a database and people standpoint, you look at the exposure that both sides will get. Having a database that both parties are going to utilize and bring attention to both facilities is something that makes a [business to business] relationship go round,” Harvick said. “… Those are the types of situations and scenarios that you want to see.”

Said Foxwoods president and CEO Felix Rappaport: “Uniting with New Hampshire Motor Speedway was a natural alignment for Foxwoods given our history of creating unique and exciting experiences,” said Foxwoods Resort Casino president and CEO Felix Rappaport. “The amplification of our partnership will allow us to continue to deliver on that promise giving our New England racing fans sought-after thrills infused with a new twist.”

Foxwoods and New Hampshire Motor Speedway first teamed up in 2017 as part of a ticket incentive program, that has continued and expanded this year.

“It only takes a few moments on property here to see the possibilities of this partnership,” said Marcus Smith, president and CEO of Speedway Motorsports Inc, which owns New Hampshire Motor Speedway. “This is a natural partnership of two entertainment brands, Foxwoods Resort Casino and Speedway Motorsports Incorporated.”

After announcing the new partnership, Harvick participated in a victory lap around the Foxwoods property and also took a ride on the Fox Tower zipline.

“I’m a little bit shocked to be honest with you because to me, when you see something that you haven’t seen before of this magnitude you almost feel like you haven’t been paying attention,” Harvick said. “To see the relationship between the race track and Foxwoods is to me exciting for not only the facility but for the race fans because of the fact that you can come to a place like this and bring your kids and have a good time and gamble and have a few beers here and there, but it’s good to tie the region together and be able to coexist and cross promote and all the things that come with a beneficial relationship.”

  1. Get rid of the 301 laps and go back to 300. Maybe you’ll be able to bet on the race at the track with Foxwoods help.

  2. wmass01013 says

whats wrong with the 301?, why does it need to be 300? its nice to be different, something NASCAR needs more of by the declining numbers in every aspect!!

  3. Interesting. Foxwoods can afford to sponsor the Monster Energy Cup Race but when it comes to sharing their slot revenue with CT that’s another story. Always complain it is down.
