STAFFORD – Rowan Pennink saved the dramatics for the closing stages of the night Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Pennink passed Woody Pitkat for the lead on lap 78 and went on to win the 80-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series feature Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

“Another awesome car right out of the trailer,” Pennink said. “Didn’t have to do a thing to it. They made the right adjustments for the race. We stuck to the game plan that we had for today and ended up in victory lane.”

It was the third victory in four Valenti Modified racing season events this season for Pennink.

“Those guys on [my] team are brining amazing cars to the track every week,” said Pennink, the 2013 series champion.

It was the 14th career Valenti Modified Racing Series victory for Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., and his third series victory at Stafford.

“The beginning part was kind of boring but those last 30 laps made up for it, charging to the front, especially getting the win,” Pennink said. “I couldn’t be prouder of [my] team.”

Pitkat, of Stafford, was second and Donnie Lashua of Canaan, N.H. third.

“We had a really good piece,” Pitkat said. “I can’t thank these guys enough. … This series, they’ve got to be a little bit more consistent with what they’re saying on the radio because I got into a guy early and they got all over the radio telling me to watch the bumper and then Rowan just kind of smashes me down into turn one and drives me into the corner to get by me. I don’t think really think that’s racing. He’s got a fast car and I like racing him. Congrats to those guys.”

Comments

  1. As I predicted. Congratulations!

  2. Oh no, not Rowan Pennink, can’t be, ask anyone he is the cleanest driver out there. He would never do anything like that to another racer.

  3. I think Woody need to watch that world series race where he fenced Masse coming out of turn 2…. I saw nothing wrong with what Pennick did

  4. Man, so tired of Woody’s whining. He’s painful to listen to on the scanner. He’s always the one who’s been wronged… he’s never at fault for anything… he’s the perpetual victim of unfair treatment…. blahblahblah, whinewhinewhine.

  5. Just a comment on that MRS consi, why wasn’t Rob Richardi parked for the night? In my 25 years of attending races at Stafford, Thompson and Waterford, that was probably the dumbest move I have ever seen. It’s a consi that pays nothing, he is running 2nd with probably a 10 length lead over 3rd, the top six make the show, 2 laps to go….and you put the leader in the wall. I was glad to see Molleur win the SK light race, way to bounce back kid after seeing your tour mod leave with a double hook.

  6. Richardi never touched him there was at least six inches between them .Look at the cars not a mark on the right side of richardi or the left side of molleur .molleur panicked and put it in the wall all by himself

  7. Steve Jesus says

Ricciardi did nothing wrong. He had the position and Molleur wouldn’t relinquish his therefore running himself into the wall. Since when is a driver supposed to be happy with running second? And if ricciardi was supposed to be happy with second why wouldn’t the same hold for Molleur??

Mike86, One question for you, have you ever watched an SK race, WMT race, VMRS race or Tri Track race that Pennink hasn’t gotten into someone? Usually more than one car he is pretty consistent with that. There is a difference between whining and stating a FACT, if it is so painful for you to listen to Pitkat on the scanner, change the channel, listen to other drivers and when you are done with that put your glasses on and watch the races. Problem solved you can now enjoy the races pain free.

    Everybody plays the victim card…

    wahwahwah…

  10. Chris D. says

You mean like Crooked Hillary did in her book after she lost the election?

  11. Why was Ricciardi put to the back, maybe just for getting to close!! Take the blinders off!!

  12. Brian Raymond Nye says

Exactly and the real reason molleur hit the wall is he didn’t want to give up first. He could have easily just burped it got back in line second or third and go to feature. What he did was stand in it and hope the car held which it didn’t, he got loose and tagged the wall trying to correct it.

  13. sour grapes of wrath says

My opinion of the Moeller deal was as follows ….I had n almost straight view down the frontstretch ..I believe Moeller saw Ricchardi coming /sliding and adjusted accordingly right into the wall..could happen to anybody.. I never saw contact between the two cars ….as for Pennick ..there’s a difference between being “used up” and wrecked… Pitkat didn’t get wrecked he got what he was giving … .second place was the better position to be in at the closing stages with both wrestling it out …Penneck drove a smart race .. saving his equipment .. Pitkat has won this way ..this time it was his turn to lose ..stop the whining ..this is becoming a good rivalry ..

  14. John Davis says

Doesn’t sound like he was whining as he congratulated him on the win and said he liked racing with him just wanted the officials the be consistent with people hitting each other. No harm no foul. Open your ears people just not what you only want to hear!

  15. Pennink’s display of patience and strategy was a perfectly executed text book lesson.

  16. siour grapes o wrath says

I stand corrected and my vision of course was from the end of the front stretch….just saw the video … that being said Ricchardi DID make contact with Moeller. so I will stand by part of my description but will ADD there was contact .apologies to Moeller ..beyond his control …

  17. As The Island turns…. Nice to know Woody has a fan.

  18. As the Island Turns says

Mike86… Clearly you are not a fan, therefore I hope you take my suggestion and listen to other drivers which will enable you to watch the races pain free!
