(Press Release from Riverhead Raceway)

Riverhead Raceway will speed into summer in a big way next weekend led by the 68th Year Celebration program Saturday June 30th that will feature a spectacular Fireworks display, a 4-Cylinder Demolition Derby plus the season’s first Big Wheel Race for kids.

A full compliment of NASCAR Whelen All American Series racing will be presented led by a 68-lap NASCAR Modified feature as well the Dan Jones Memorial race, a 30-lap $1,000 to win event for the INEX Legend Race Cars. Completing the pre-holiday doubleheader weekend on Sunday will be the All American Enduro featuring the Street Stocks and Mini Stocks.

Just days before the July 4th Independence Day holiday Riverhead Raceway fans will be treated to another Bay Fireworks extravaganza lighting up the summer sky with a professional pyrotechnic display with a musical accompaniment.

The first Big Wheel Race of the 2018 season will find the kids taking to the quarter mile track they watch their racing heroes compete on with the race winner getting to keep Big Wheel they rode to victory lane. The show will come to a smashing conclusion with a bone jarring, car destroying 4-Cylinder Demolition Derby. Over the years the compact cars have shown they can take a licking and keep on ticking and these events have become extremely popular with competitors and fans alike.

Sandwiched in between will be some of the finest side by side stock car racing led by the 68th Year Celebration NASCAR Modified event. Early season championship leader Kyle Soper of Manorville will lead the 600 horsepower warriors into action and be joined by defending champion Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead, David Schneider of Huntington, Vinny Biondolillo of Farmingville, John Beatty Jr. of Merrick, John Fortin Sr. & Jr. of Holtsville, Dave Brigati of Calverton, Eddie Brunnhoelzl of Levittown and Howie Brode of East Islip. Spearheaded by NASCAR WMT standout Justin Bonsignore the Dan Jones memorial for the INEX Legend Race Cars originally slated for mid May will unfold this Saturday June 30th. Through Bonsignore’s efforts the 30-lap feature will net the race winner a cool $1,000 payday in the form of a “big check” courtesy of Timmy Solomito of Natural Design Concepts & Apparel. As of press time “Big Money” Richie Davidowitz of East Moriches had swept all three INEX Legend Race Car events contested to date and he’d love to love up to his moniker Saturday. Aside from added purse money Bonsignore and his team have arranged for numerous special awards for the race run in memory of a true racers friend Dan Jones of Blue Point Auto Body.

Completing the Saturday night racing menu are the Eagle Auto Mall Crate Modifieds, Figure Eights, Super Pro Trucks, Street Stocks and a 8-Cylinder Enduro. Qualifying times along with the start time for opening ceremonies will be announced on the track web page www.riverheadraceway.com early in the week leading up to race day.

After having their May Meltdown and Spring Smackdown shows rained out in May, the Sunday Series Enduro stars will bask in the sunlight of their first stand alone race day Sunday July 1st and in the All American Enduro. A full afternoon of racing led by the Street Stocks and Mini Stocks will be presented with the Truck Enduro, 8-Cylinder Enduro, Gut & Go Enduro and a Mini 8 Enduro completing the show that will start at 12:30 pm.
