Specialty Awards To Be Presented At Tri-Track Open Mod Series SBM 125 At Star Speedway

(Press Release from Tri-Track Open Modified Series)

When the 30+ teams roll into Star Speedway for the Tri-Track Open Modified Series (TTOMS) SBM 125 on Saturday, July 28 they will do so for more than just the $6K winner’s payday.

Teams and drivers will also be vying for specialty awards that have become a SBM tradition and add to the prestige of the event.

The Chuck Montville Award will be presented to one car owner who best represents the good-natured character that Chuck himself was known. Thanks to the support of Red Roof Inn, Lu – Mac’s Package Store, CGR Landscaping, Rockingham Boat, Stephanie Montville and Adam Cerbone Jr., Kristen Montville, Les Hinckley and the 06 Modified Race Team, Dale Holdridge, Cliff and Kammy Ramsdell, Maci and Greg Narducci, a commemorative plaque and $1,060 will be presented to the car owner selected by a small group of friends, fans and family.

“We are thrilled to continue the tradition of the annual Chuck Montville Award,” said Jim Schafer, cofounder of the Tri-Track Open Modified Series. “This award will be presented to the car owner who exemplifies Chuck’s ‘get along with everyone’ attitude.”

The Tri-Track Open Modified is proud to present the first-ever Bob Webber Sr. Memorial Sportsmanship Award in honor of the late owner of Star Speedway, who passed away in January. The patriarch of the Webber family, Bob, Sr. has left behind a legacy that will not soon be forgotten by fans and competitors alike.

“He was a promoter first but one who never forgot the teams who competed at his track and treated them as extended family,” Dale Wolbrink of the TTOMS. “I would like to think that he would be thrilled that we are recognizing sportsmanship among competitors in his name at his track.”

A commemorative trophy created by Timmy Solomito’s Natural Designs and a minimum of $100 will be presented to a competitor as selected by Tri-Track pit officials.

J&J Motorsports will once again present the Hard Luck Award and $500 during the SBM event at Star Speedway.

Racing will get underway on Saturday, July 28 with heat races for weekly divisions at 4:30pm followed by heat race action for the Tri-Track Mods. Features for all divisions will roll-off at approximately 6:00pm and will culminate with the running of 125 laps of ground-pounding Modified action.

Grandstand admission is $30 for adults, $25 for Seniors and Juniors. Kids under 10 are admitted free. Early bird pit passes (that includes early practice) are $55. Pit gates officially open at 11:30am with a cost of $45. Practice of the TTOMS is scheduled for 1:00pm. More information can be found at StarSpeedwayNH.com.
