RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour headed back to the Island Saturday for the running of the Miller Lite 200 at Riverhead Raceway in Riverhead, N.Y.

When the dust settled at the Riverhead bullring it was Justin Bonsignore in victory lane, completing the season sweep of both Whelen Modified Tour events at his home track this season.

It was the seventh victory in 13 Whelen Modified Tour events for Bonsignore, who is steamrolling toward his first series championship.

Our own Fran Lawlor was on the ground Saturday at Riverhead to capture all the action from the pre-race to victory lane.

Check out below for Fran’s views from the event.

  1. Thank you for the beautiful photos. Lots of empty seats. Where were the fans???

  2. Thanks for the compliment. As for the fans, weather was terrible. Even one that was there thought there was no shot of getting the show in. Eddie and Connie Partridge and their team as well as Jimmy Wilson and his team from NASCAR definitely did not give up even when a lot of us there did. Kudos to all the effort put in to get the show in, regardless of what the gate looked like

  3. Outstanding photos!!! Thank you very much.
