With the 2019 Racing season rapidly approaching, Matt, and the MGR Team have planned an exciting schedule of races for the upcoming season.

“We are going to run the full schedule of events with the SK Modified at Stafford Motor Speedway again this season.” “It will be our ninth year of competition at Stafford and our seventh in the SK division.” “The Arute family and the staff at the speedway run a first class operation and we’re proud to be able to race there.”

Also, Matt Galko Racing, has added a second car to it’s stable, a tour type modified and will compete in all three Open 80 Modified events at Stafford Motor Speedway this season.

“We are really looking forward to those races at Stafford this season.” “I ran in one of the Open 80 Modified events last year for the Perry Family and really liked the format and the rule package.” “It was a very competitive race and we’re definitely looking forward to those events this year.”

Matt, and MGR Team, will also compete with their own tour type modified in select Valenti Modified Racing Series events and on the Tri Track Open Modified Series as well.

“I’ve run a few VMRS Races for the Perry family and also have competed on the Tri Track Series, for the Perrys or eNVy Motorsports full time, or at least part time since it’s inception.” “They’re two great racing series that we have always enjoyed running in the past and look forward to the races we will run this year.”

Matt, also will look to make his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour debut this season in select events.

“Something I have always wanted to do in racing was to run on the NWMT.” “I can’t quite divulge all the details at this time, but I have been presented the opportunity to run a handful of events this season and to say I am excited about it would be an understatement.”

With all the excitement behind this schedule of events for 2019, unfortunately, due to budget constraints and scheduling conflicts as well, Matt, will not be competing full time at the New London Waterford Speedbowl for eNVy Motorsports this season.

“Honestly, it was probably one of the toughest decisions I have ever had to make not only in racing, but in life.”

“The Vernos and the team took a chance on me six years ago and we raced at many tracks as well as the Speedbowl.” “I won my first race in the SK division driving for them and they’re like a second family to me and I never can thank them enough for the opportunity they gave me these past six years.”

Through his relationship with eNVy Motorpsorts he also raced on the Tri Track Series and the Valenti Series for the Perry Family.

“The same exact sentiments apply to the entire Perry family.” “They also took a chance on a driver who had zero laps in a tour type Modified and gave me the opportunity and I can never thank them enough for the past four seasons.”

“The door is not totally closed with either team there is the possibility we could run a few races here or there this season with both teams.”

“The 2019 racing season is right around the corner and our team, our great marketing partners, product sponsors, and myself can’t wait for it to start.”

  1. Galko, another solid SK citizen and undervalued with fans I should think. Won a couple years ago at Stafford. Last year a disappointment just never reaching the first tier laps speeds.
September 15, 2017, Ted Christophers last race. Galko, Owen, Preece and Christopher lap after lap under a blanket with Galko taking the win. Preece for third and very frustrated in victory circle that there was no opportunity to get by Matt or Todd.
Very mysterious about the NWMT deal isn’t he. Do you think, is it possible, is there any chance it could be for you know who? One Mr. Fuller.
See this is the type of motor deal I wonder about. Clearly they’ll be putting a built motor together but what will it be. An SK short block with upgrades to save money. Is that even possible? Or a used or ground up deal from scratch.? 18 degree or 23. We’ll never know will we?
Another guy the Northeast travelers of modified racing probably don’t care about. But I for one am looking forward to seeing Matt mix it up in the Opens.
