The team was preparing the car to make it comfortable for a different driver.

Team owner John Rufrano confirmed that team was readying the car for the preferances of seven-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Mike Stefanik of Coventry, R.I.

“Keith is going to start the race and Stefanik is going to take over after that,” Rufrano said.

Rocco injured his left arm during an SK Modified heat race Saturday evening at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Rocco, of Wallingford, went on to finish third in the Late Model feature and fourth in the SK Modified feature at Waterford last night before heading to the emergency room to get diagnosed. Team members were mum Sunday morning on the extent of Rocco’s injury, but sources said he sustained some type of fracture to his left arm.

It marks the third consecutive season that Rocco has sustained an upper body injury in competition. He sustained a dislocated shoulder in an SK Modified heat race crash in 2011 at Stafford Motor Speedway. Last July he sustained a broken wrist in an SK Modified practice crash at Thompson International Speedway.
