Rowan Pennink To Compete Full-Time In SK Modified Division At Stafford Motor Speedway In 2013

Those looking for the place to find a wealth of NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour talent competing weekly, should look no further than Stafford Motor Speedway in 2013.

And that became even more evident on Wednesday when it was announced that Rowan Pennink of Huntingdon Valley, Pa. would be joining the SK Modified ranks at Stafford full-time in 2013.

Team owner Kelly Iverson announced Wednesday that Pennink will be driving the Hitchcock Pool and Water No. 89 SK Modified at Stafford this year.

“I didn’t really plan on it but the opportunity came up and it’s a good car and a good ride and I’m looking forward to doing it,” Pennink said. “They’re good people and I decided I might as well give it a shot.”

With Pennink in the fold, Stafford boasts six full-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour drivers competing full-time in their SK Modified division this year.

Reigning Whelen Modified Tour champion Doug Coby of Milford recently announced that he would return to running full-time in an SK Modified at Stafford this year.

Fellow Whelen Modified Tour regulars Ted Christopher of Plainville, Ryan Preece of Berlin, Woody Pitkat of Stafford and Eric Berndt of Cromwell also compete full-time at Stafford.

Pennink, who also competes full-time with the Valenti Modified Racing Series, said he expects to be a contender for a title at Stafford this year.

“It’s a good piece with good people working on it, hopefully I’ll be able to run good in it,” Pennink said.
