Santos will be competing in the USAC Midget Pavement event at Lucas Oil Raceway outside of Indianapolis on Saturday.

Santos, of Franklin, Mass., is currently tied for second in the USAC Midget Pavement standings, two points out of the lead.

Santos also skipped the June 29 Whelen Modified Tour event at Riverhead (N.Y.) Raceway to compete in a USAC event at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, Col.

Former Whelen Modified Tour regular Matt Hirschman filled in for Santos with his Tinio Motorsports team on June 29, but Lawney Tinio, son of team owner Sully Tinio, said Thursday the team will not participate at Monadnock.

Santos is currently 12th in the Whelen Modified Tour standings after six of 14 events this year. He won the Spring Sizzler at Stafford on April 28 and followed that victory with back-to-back fifth place finishes in the next two events. He was involved in an accident in the most recent Whelen Modified Tour event on July 13 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and was 24th.

Santos won the 2010 Whelen Modified Tour championship running for Mystic owner Bob Garbarino. He and Garbarino parted ways after the 2011 season and Santos ran a part-time schedule for Tinio Motorsports in 2012, winning the final two events of the season.
