Ken Cassidy Jr. Puts Exclamation Point On Another Title With Mini Stock Win At Waterford

WATERFORD – It’s not as if Ken Cassidy Jr. needs to do anything more to make sure his competition remembers him through the offseason, but they’ll be hard pressed to forget the tone he set to end 2013 at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Cassidy, of Lisbon, rolled to his ninth victory of the season in Sunday’s 50-lap Mini Stock feature at the Waterford Speedbowl’s Finale Weekend event Sunday.

Cassidy, who clinched his fifth championship in the division on Sept. 28, closed out the season with four consecutive victories.

Garrett Denton of Hope Valley, R.I. was second and Glen Colvin of Clinton third.

“I love the 50-lappers,” Cassidy said. “You can kind of ride for a while. Tonight kind of sucked because of the rain. I don’t like getting out of the car and then go back racing. But we go to victory lane so that was awesome.”

After multiple laps battling side-by-side with Denton for the lead, Cassidy cleared him out front with 28 laps left and never trailed again.
