STAFFORD – Bobby Santos was fastest in practice and qualifying at Stafford Motor Speedway on May 23, the day the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour TSI Harley-Davison 125 was originally scheduled, but rained out.

And he was fastest again in practice when teams came back to Stafford last Friday but got rained out once again.

So it was no shocker who topped the charts in Whelen Modified Tour practice Friday evening at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Santos, of Franklin, Mass., toured the half-mile Stafford oval with a fast lap of 18.271 seconds (98.517 mph) Friday.

Series rookie Tommy Barrett Jr. of Millis, Mass. was second fastest during the practice at 18.299 seconds (98.366 mph).

Ted Christopher of Plainville was third fastest in practice at 18.359 seconds (98.045).
