“All I’ve ever done is really run mediocre and blow up engines.”
That was how Brent Gleason described his nine years of racing last Wednesday night at Thompson Speedway.
Well, before that night that is.
Last Wednesday Gleason got to add the positive of racing winning driver to that resume of sorts after getting his first victory in the Limited Sportsman division at Thompson Speedway.
And he got another accolade to go along with that win this week.
Gleason was voted this week’s New England Racing Fuel Support Performer of the Week Award winner.
Gleason garnered 190 of 645 votes cast this week for the award (29.5 percent). Charles Canfield, the Mini Stock division winner last Saturday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl, was second in the voting with 161 votes (25 percent).
The singular constant this season across the board for the SK Light Modified division at Connecticut short tracks has been Tony Membrino Jr.
Each week during the 2016 racing season the New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Support Performer of the Week will be chosen from among drivers competing in events in one of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly support divisions (excludes SK Modified divisions) at Stafford Motor Speedway, Thompson Speedway and the Waterford Speedbowl.
Gleason will receive a $20 certificate for race fuel from New England Racing Fuel.
