RICHMOND, Va. – Ryan Preece drove the Flex Seal Liquid Chevrolet to a 26th-place finish in Friday night’s Virginia 529 College Savings 250 at Richmond International Raceway.

Preece qualified 16th. The race saw only two caution flags, limiting advance opportunities for drivers in mid-pack.

“It was a hard night to make up ground,” Preece said. “The long green-flag runs were tough, and the tires went away quick. We learned a lot, though.”

Preece, who ran as high as 12th, stayed 17th in Xfinity points.

Kyle Busch won the race, and Elliott Sadler kept the series point lead.

The series moves on to Chicagoland Speedway next weekend for the final race of the regular season.

Comments

  1. He needs more pit crew work, up to 12th, after 1st pit went down to 19th & fell apart from there.

  2. I noticed the stayed out on the first pit stop and pit after the leaders all pit? 19th was last spot on the lead lap at the time. I just couldn’t understand the strategy only thing I could think of was his crew chief said to stay out and end up with a littttle but more fuel than the leaders. Before pit he marched to 12th and was gaining on 11th and 10th so it seemed the car was good after pit they must of made a bad adjustment because he wasn’t able to march forward at all and with the long green flag coupled with starting 7 cars back from where they were along with a bad handling car he fell down quite a few laps restricting he best position to 26th for the entire second half of the race :(. Go get em at chicago Preece!

  3. He didn’t stay out on the first pit stop. His team struggled getting his right rear on. That’s why he went from 12th to 19th. Then, he sped at the entrance of pit road on the next green flag stop. Had to serve a pass through and was caught for speeding again. Came back around and had to do a stop in his pit. He was .5 over the first time and .7 over the second where he looked a lot slower entering… He lost at least 2 laps in the process forcing the 26th place finish.
