STAFFORD – The 2015 Saunders and Saunders Show continued to roll on in the Limited Late Model division Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Albert Saunders of Stafford held off his twin brother Cliff Saunders of Stafford to win the 25-lap Xtramart Xtra D Limited Late Model feature at Stafford.

It was the second victory of the season for Albert Saunders. His twin brother Cliff also has two victories this season over six events.

“Thank you to Xtramart for putting this race on,” Albert Saunders said. “I really like the extra distance races so this is a cool event to win. … It was a night full of problems. I hit the wall pretty hard off turn two one of the first couple laps. Then I got a bad restart. Then the brakes started going away. … The last probably 10 laps or so I had no brakes. So I was just hanging on to get the win. It’s cool that my brother got second. I think he was a little bit better than me at the end. It’s really cool to get the second win of the season.”

Cliff Saunders ended up second and Andrew Hayes of Charlton, Mass. third.

It was the second time this season the twins have finished 1-2 in an event at Stafford. Albert was second to Cliff on May 15. Albert Saunders’ first victory came on April 25.

“It’s fun afterward, but during [the race] it’s kind of stressful,” Albert Saunders said of the 1-2 finishes by the twins. “Having both cars right there, if one of us wrecks, you know both of us might wreck. But it is a lot of fun actually because I know when he’s behind me I can trust him and when he’s in front of me I can trust him and he can trust me and all that. We kind of know where eachother is going to put the car on the track so it makes it a little bit easier knowing where your competition is going to end up”

Matthew Swanson of Acton, Mass. picked up his first career victory at Stafford in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature. D. J. Burnham of East Hartford was second and Joey Ferrigno of East Hartford third.

Trace Beyer of West Dover, Vt. won the 15-lap DARE Stock feature. Frank L’Etoile Jr. of Wethersfield was second and Tyler Trott of East Hartford third.

Cory DiMatteo of Farmington won the 20-lap Legends feature. Devin O’Connell of Madison was second and Kyle Rogers of Danbury third.
