Last September Chris Pasteryak ended his family’s 35-year mission to score a Modified victory at Stafford Motor Speedway.
Friday Pasteryak, of Lisbon, goes looking to start a family streak and become the first repeat winner in Valenti Modified Racing Series action at Stafford when the series takes the green flag for the Lincoln Tech 80.
Pasteryak won the Shark Cycle 80 on September, 9 2012 at Stafford. Pasteryak followed in the footsteps of his father Charlie and uncle Carl as a Modified racer.
“This is big,” Pasteryak said after winning at Stafford last year. “Do you know how many hundreds of thousands of dollars we’ve probably spent here on Friday nights? This is the first time we’ve ever won a race here. It’s almost overwhelming when you’ve been trying for something for so long. ’76 to 2011, that’s a hell of a long time. That’s a lot of cars, different racing series.”
Pasteryak went on to win his second series championship last year in the Valenti Modified Racing Series.
Pasteryak became the third different winner in Valenti Modified Racing Series action at Stafford when he was victorious last September. Ted Christopher won the inaugural event for the series at the track in 2010 and Keith Rocco won the Lincoln Tech 80 last year.
“It would be pretty cool to be the first repeat winner at Stafford, but it’s
going to be tough,” Pasteryak said in a release from the track. “… Of course you always want to be the first guy to do something, and it would be nice to be the first repeat winner at Stafford, but it’s not going to be easy.”
Pasteryak is ninth in the Valenti Modified Racing Series standings after four events this season.
Following the Lincoln Tech 80, Pasteryak will be hosting an Ice Cream Extravaganza at the Tolland Xtra Mart on Saturday as part of his efforts to raise money for David’s House as part of the CarQuest Champions For Charities event to be run on June 30 at Stafford.
The Ice Cream Extravaganza will take place from 2pm-4pm at the Tolland Xtra Mart, which is located at 153 Hartford Turnpike on Route 30 in Tolland. For every cone, milkshake, or hot fudge sundae that is ordered, Xtra Mart will donate 100% of the proceeds to Pasteryak’s fund raising efforts to benefit David’s House.
