Double Vision: SK Mod Record Helps Keith Rocco Beat Twin Brother In Speedbowl.com 300 Qualifying

WATERFORD – It was the Rocco and Rocco show in NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified division qualifying Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Keith Rocco set a Waterford Speedbowl SK Modified track record in setting the fast lap in time trial qualifying for tonight’s 100-lap feature for the divison, part of Speedbowl.com 300 night.

Rocco, of Wallingford, toured the .375-mile Speedbowl oval in 14.058 seconds, breaking the previous record of 14.061 seconds, which was set by Kenny Horton in 2007 and later tied by Ted Christopher in 2010.

In setting the record, Rocco knocked his identical twin brother Jeff of the pole.

Jeff Rocco of Wallingford ended up second fastest in time trials at 14.132 seconds. Rob Janovic Jr. (14.201) was third fastest and Doug Coby (14.203) fourth quickest.

The top eight qualifiers will invert for the start of the feature, putting Tom Abele Jr. of Norwich on the pole for the race.

Keith Rocco also set a track record in Late Model division qualifying, running a lap of 15.146 seconds breaking the previous record of 15.202 set by Bruce Thomas Jr. in 2009.

Corey Hutchings set a track record in the Street Stock qualifying. and Dylan Izzo of Westport set a track record in Legends division qualifying.

Sean Caron of East Hampton was fastest in Mini Stock qualifying and Cam McDermott of Scituate, R.I. was fastest in SK Light Modified time trials.
