Former Sprint Cup Series champion and 2013 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Rusty Wallace will greet fans at Thompson that evening.

Wallace was recently selected as one of five inductees for the fourth class into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Wallace won 55 Sprint Cup Series events and the 1989 Sprint Cup Series championship before retiring from competition following the 2005 season.

Wallace now serves as a commentator for ESPN’s NASCAR broadcasts. He’ll be appearing at Thompson representing California Paints.

According to a release from the track, Wallace will also be a part of the race program that evening at Thompson, though it was confirmed by the track that he will not participate in any competitive nature in any divisions.
“We are thrilled to have Rusty coming to Thompson,” track owner Don Hoenig said in a release. “He is one of the best ambassadors the sport could ever ask for and we are confident that Thompson fans will love the opportunity to see him in person with many of them getting the opportunity to meet him and receive his autograph.”

The Pro All Stars Series will run a 75-lap event that evening at the track. Also on the card that evening will be six additional weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions in action.
