Whelen Modified Tour Mr. Rooter 161 Festivities Under Way In Waterford

WATERFORD – They’re back.

For the first time since 2006, the cars of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour were back gracing the tight confines of the .375-mile Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday afternoon.

Practice in preparation for tonight’s Whelen Modified Tour Mr. Rooter 161 began at the track at 1:30 this afternoon.

The Mr. Rooter 161 marks the 18th Whelen Modified Tour event at Waterford, but the first one since Donny Lia outdueled Ed Flemke Jr. for a victory on Oct. 8, 2006 in Waterford.

Lia and Flemke are the only active drivers with multiple series victories at Waterford. Lia also won at the track in 2005. Flemke had wins at Waterford in 2001 and 204.
