Donny Lia Tops The Charts In NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Practice At NHMS

LOUDON, N.H. – It’s been a season of up and down results thus far in 2012 for Donny Lia on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

In the first five races respectively this year Lia has been fifth, 14th, sixth, 20th and fifth.

Could the pattern be ending this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway?

If practice is any indication Lia is ready to break the pattern of good finish followed by bad finish.

Lia, of Jericho, N.Y., was fastest in the Whelen Modified Tour’s one hour and 45 minute practice Friday morning at NHMS in preparation for Saturday’s Town Fair Tire 100 in Loudon.

The Whelen Modified Tour will qualify for the event Friday afternoon.

Lia is in his first full-time season back with Mystic team owner Bob Garbarino’s organization since winning his second series championship for the team in 2009.

Lia turned a fast lap with an average speed of 129.825 mph on the 1.058-mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway oval.

Ron Silk of Norwalk was second in practice at 129.213 mph. Ted Christopher of Plainville, the all-time winningest driver at NHMS, was third fastest at 128.702 mph.
