Thompson Notes: Steve Violette Takes The Competition To School In Mini Stocks

THOMPSON – Steve Violette has been trying to teach lessons behind the wheel of a Mini Stock at Thompson International Speedway since 2008.

Sunday Violette, of Canterbury, tested perfectly.

Violette, an auto body teach at Grasso Tech High School in Danielson, drove to his first career victory in the 15-lap Mini Stock feature at Thompson.

“This is a wonderful day,” Violette said. “I had to do a lot of things this year to be able to come race here. My students at Grasso Tech basically motivated me over the years. I try to set a good example for them and motivate them over the years and show what a lot of hard work will get you. To finally get a win for them, I’m so happy for all of them.”

Dave Trudeau of Mansfield was second and Joe Baxter of . Dave Trudeau, Mansfield; 3. Joe Baxter, Pascoag, R.I.;

John Falconi came out on top in the 25-lap Late Model feature. Mike Scorzelli of Malta, N.Y. was second and Tommy O’Sullivan of Springfield, Mass. third.

In the 20-lap Limited Sportman feature it was Scott Sundeen of Douglas, Mass. in victory lane. Jesse Gleason of Lisbon was second and Steve Kenneway of Lowell, Mass. third.

In the 15-lap SK Light Modified feature it was Cam McDermott of Scituate, Mass. winning for the seventh time this season.

Corey Barry of Plainfield was second and Troy Talman of Oxford, Mass. third.

John Lowinski-Loh Jr. of Milford, Mass. held off a charging Chad LaBastie to win the 20-lap Thompson Modified feature.

It was the 8th victory of the season for Lowinski-Loh. LaBastie, of Uxbridge, Mass., was second and Brian Tagg of Oxford, Mass. third.
